Growing up in the outskirts of Chicago, Karla has always had an interest in Farmers Markets, as she attended many in her teen years in Oak Park, IL. She understands the significance of farming, as her in-laws live on a farm, grow their own crops and raise chickens.
Before taking over the Aurora Farmers Market, Karla took on the Market Manager role for the Batavia MainStreet Farmers Market in 2015.
She is passionate about supporting local businesses, as she owns and operates her own business, Sweet Bea, which specializes in handmade headbands, hairbands and hairclips.
In her spare time, Karla enjoys getting involved in community projects and volunteering at her children’s schools.
With a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Interior Design degree from Harrington College of Design, Karla has a sharp eye and is a valuable asset to the Aurora Farmers Market and the Special Events Division for the City of Aurora.
